How do I make planning my wedding fun?

How do I make this stage as fun as possible??

Let’s be honest if you don’t love making decisions there might be some parts of wedding planning that you just don't love!

Assuming you are doing everything you can to take a load off of yourself (ie: hiring a wedding planner, or delegating the stuffing out of your day…)

There are still choices that only you and your Love can make!

The number one thing is remove some of the friction from doing the task, and if you can’t take away the dread add a little treat at the end of it!

If you love picking out flowers etc, but don’t care about playlists then do the one that sounds hard first, that way the easy fun one feels like a reward.

Another really fun way is to pretty much turn all of your planning times that involve you and your man into dates!

A romantic black and white portrait of a couple embracing outdoors in an intimate tender moment.
A couple sits together on a brick porch ledge near an arched window and lush green plants.
A couple shares a tender moment outdoors in front of lush green shrubbery at sunset.

HOW DO I PLAN THEM WITHOUT THEM Becoming SUPER OVER THE TOP STRUCTURED??

Pick a few things at a time or one big thing you have to do and put some fun on the end of it!

Grab drinks and then over the caterers, look at photographers and then go to the movies!

DON’T SKIP THE FUN STUFF!

Even if your grandma is baking your cake, have a cake tasting! It’s a fun part that you can do at the same time as something monotonous, to give it that “spoonful of sugar.”

A couple in light-colored outfits holds hands while leaning away from each other against a white brick wall.

Ok, now for some ideas…

IF THE PLANNING PART REQUIRES A LOT OF YOUR MIND, PLAN A DATE THAT IS MINDLESS, PHYSICAL FUN THAT YOU CAN DO AS A QUICK BREAK!

p.s men were not necessarily designed to "enjoy" sitting  around for long periods of time just talking so this fun idea as  a to-do before or after or *gasp* during can really help!

EXAMPLE:

  • Mini-golf
  • Pickle ball
  • Disc golf
  • Pool
  • Darts
  • Video games
  • Whatever he LIKES doing to blow off steam works too.

(as a tip you can 100% gamify ANYTHING so ramp up his competitive drive by throwing in a "Winner picks blank" or "If I loose we quit planning in 20 minutes today")

IF THE PLANNING REQUIRES YOUR PHYSICAL PRESENCE, GO AHEAD AND INVITE A FEW FRIENDS TO COME ALONG!

The “If I have to suffer you do too!” mentality is kinda helpful here! You can actually get a lot done with some outside perspective, then have a movie night with your comrades and enjoy the load off!

The thing is to decide what you can reasonably get done in an hour or so, don’t push yourself for more then 2 hours because after that unless you enjoy it both of your brains start to be beyond done!

If you have a big timeline coming up (Like your wedding) ASK FOR HELP!

Even your vendors would probably help out if you’ve picked out a good team!

And remember! If it’s not getting in the way of your top three priorities of the day, it will be ok no matter how the dust settles.

You got this.

Let’s get this cake. ;)

Respectfully on cake cloud nine,
